Enjoy beautiful views of the City, Christina River and marsh with Zumba Fitness! Zumba is a latin inspired, dance fitness class that incorporates latin and international music and dance movements such as, Cumbia, hip-hop, Reggaeton and more, creating an exhilarating, calorie-burning activity. Led by a licensed fitness instructor.

Series of classes March - September

Whether you are just beginning your interest in nature, or wish to gain greater depth of understanding of local ecosystems, take advantage of this spring through fall course! Learn about the ecology of the Piedmont region and the flora and fauna that reside here during eight lectures and field trips led by experts. Each participant will complete a field and classroom notebook to become a certified naturalist.School teachers can receive 60 hours of in-service credit.

Session Series: June through September, 1 pm - 5 p

Learn how to help others create wildlife habitat gardens. Topics include site analysis, plant selection, design for happy critters and neighbors, and wildlife-friendly gardening practices. Four afternoons, one Saturday and one evening. Course includes garden visits and a resource notebook. Some homework required for NWF certification.

Friday, July 20, 8pm - 10pm

Unwind after work with summer cocktails, lawn games and an evening under the stars! Learn three mojito recipes using mint fresh from our farm garden. Starting with a traditional recipe, we will then spice it up with jalapeños or add berries for a refreshing summer sipper! While enjoying your creations snack on guacamole and fresh salsa. As dusk fades, we will move up to the overlook. Prepare to be dazzled by the summer night sky! Through telescopes, we’ll have the opportunity to view Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, and deep space objects. Paddle 36-miles in the Adirondack wilderness along the beautiful Long Lake & Raquette River. Visit Tupper Lake's famous "The Wild Center," a mecca for natural history, before heading home. Participants should be prepared to paddle 7-14 miles/day and cross a 1.5-mile portage up & around Falls. All participants must attend a practice canoe day-trip (dates TBD).

Ages 21+. Fees include van transportation, paddling equipment, and food out on the trail (meals on the road are not included). Packing lists to be distributed as the trip approaches; please let DNS know of any dietary restrictions upon registration. Departs from Ashland Nature Center, 3511 Barley Mill Road, Hockessin, DE.
